National Healthcare Quality Report 2008 State Snapshots

The State Snapshots provide State-specific health care quality information, including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. The goal is to help State officials and their public- and private-sector partners better understand health care quality and disparities in their State.

State-level information used to create the State Snapshots is based on data collected for the National Healthcare Quality Report (NHQR).
Performance Measures- Summary measures of quality of care and States' performances relative to all States and the region by:

• Overall health care quality
• Types of care (preventive, acute, and chronic)
• Settings of care (hospitals, ambulatory care, nursing home, and home health)
• Five clinical conditions

MDCH Health Statistics Tables

This page provides health statistics tables for Michigan and its counties, health departments and cities. This web site has tables of numbers, rates and other figures regarding infant mortality, preventable hospitalizations, live births, mortality, population and sexually transmitted diseases. You will be provided with a list of all available tables for a selected region. SEER*Stat Software

The SEER*Stat statistical software provides a convenient, intuitive mechanism for the analysis of SEER and other cancer-related databases. It is a powerful PC tool to view individual cancer records and to produce statistics for studying the impact of cancer on a population. SEER*Stat software is distributed with the SEER Research Data and you must have access to the data before using the software.

Health Disparity Measures in HD*Calc

The Health Disparities Calculator (HD*Calc) is statistical software designed to generate multiple summary measures to evaluate and monitor health disparities (HD). HD*Calc was created as an extension of SEER*Stat that allows the user to import SEER data and other population based health data to calculate any of eight disparity measurements.

Cross sectional and trend data (e.g., cancer rates, survival, stage at diagnosis) categorized by disparity groups (e.g., area-socioeconomic status, race/ethnicity, geographic areas) can be used with HD*Calc to generate four absolute and seven relative summary measures of disparity. The results are displayed as tables and charts, which may be exported for use in other applications.

ACS Statistics for 2010

SEER Cancer Statistics Review 1975-2007

The SEER Cancer Statistics Review (CSR), a report of the most recent cancer incidence, mortality, survival, prevalence, and lifetime risk statistics, is published annually by the Cancer Statistics Branch of the NCI. The scope and purpose of this work are consistent with a report to the Senate Appropriations Committee (Breslow, 1988) which recommended that a broad profile of cancer be presented to the American public on a routine basis. This edition includes statistics from 1975 through 2007, the most recent year for which data are available.

There are three ways to access the statistics in the CSR:

1. Browse the Tables and Figures - statistics are presented in HTML format based on user selections.
2. Access Contents in PDF - statistics are provided in sections by cancer site and topical groupings.
3. Generate Custom Reports - individual pages can be extracted and grouped into custom-made PDFs.

United States Cancer Statistics (USCS)

This Web-based report includes the official federal statistics on cancer incidence from registries that have high-quality data and cancer mortality statistics for each year and 2002–2006 combined. It is produced by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Cancer Institute (NCI), in collaboration with the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR).

The Chronic Disease Cost Calculator is a downloadable tool that supports states in:

1. Estimating state Medicaid expenditures for six chronic diseases – congestive heart failure, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, cancer, and diabetes.
2. Generating estimates of the costs to Medicaid of selected chronic diseases using customized inputs (e.g., prevalence rates and treatment costs).
